While you're compiling your lists, you may also want to consider purchasing or downloading mailing list managing softwares. Essentially, these softwares allow you to edit and compile your entire mailing list under a single email address. Whenever you wish to send out a newsletter, instead of adding 2000 names into your “To” bar, all you need is to send the newsletter to the one registered mailing list manager ID which will then distribute your newsletter to all your subscribers.
Another thing that you want to invest in is a great Customer Relationship Management tool or a CRM (like MailChimp, etc.). These tools are easily available online, and many premium ones provide free services if you have fewer than 2500 subscribers or if the total number of monthly mails will not exceed fifteen to twenty thousand, though these figures may vary from one software to another. These CRMs not only help you automate and organize your mail lists with the managing software described above, but also keep you updated on important data such as soft and hard bounces, click-through rates, as well as data on whether particular recipients opened your mail, or clicked on links in it. These statistics are invaluable to help perfect your newsletter campaign, for reasons which we shall discuss in subsequent chapters.
